Shri Joy Viswanathan
General Secretary, Pravasam Trust (Regd.)
Shri Joy Viswanathan is a dedicated public servant and dynamic administrator, currently serving as General Secretary of Pravasam Trust (Regd.). Born in Panayara, Varkala Taluk, Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala, he was raised in a modest middle-class family by Shri Viswanathan V., an expatriate-turned-entrepreneur, and Smt. G. Pushpalakshy.
A Chemistry graduate from S.N. College, Varkala, he also completed a Junior Diploma in Co-operation immediately after graduation. He began his career with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Ministry of Home Affairs, as a Sub-Inspector (Wireless Technician), where he qualified the Grade-I Technician Course (equivalent to Diploma in Electronics & Telecommunication).
In 1998, he joined the Parliament of India on deputation and was absorbed in 2007. He currently serves as Joint Director in the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
He has played a crucial role in sensitive assignments, including service at the Communication Control Room and the Bomb Detection Wing of Parliament Security in the post-Parliament attack period, reflecting his courage, technical expertise, and commitment to national security.
An advocate of continuous learning, he has also completed Degree and Postgraduate studies in Vedic Astrology.
As General Secretary of Pravasam Trust, Shri Joy Viswanathan brings administrative strength, field experience, and a deep commitment to Pravasi welfare. His leadership is focused on strengthening institutional effectiveness, expanding outreach, and delivering impactful community support.
He is supported by his wife, Smt. Sindhu C.O., Superintendent at Kollam Municipal Corporation. Their elder son, Sreehari Joy, is a Biomedical Engineer in Al Ain, UAE, and younger son, Gokul Joy, is pursuing M.Sc. Bioinformatics at Sastra University, Thanjavur. He is also part of a proud family of service, with his three brothers serving in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and a brother in KSRTC.
